Well in our own middle ages bread existed and long before it even butter existed which both peasant and nobles ate. Actually for us yeast for bread making has been part of our diets for over 10,000 years. It's really not unlikely it wouldn't exist in this anime which seems further ahead then that technology wise and more closer to a renaissance era where churches where above kings themselves.

Except Myne "invented" yeast on the second season and used it to prepare modern bread.

I forget that but then that doesn't mean much towards having a slice of bread then. Early forms of bread also weren't made with yeast and baked on a rock and was considerably flat. Could always be a form of flatbread.

Actually they look kind of like a pancake. Also there's no yeast bread that looks like any other bread. Example is pure rye bread.
